I personally set strong limits for myself (and for my students) in that I am only allowed to read that person when they are in front of me and when I have officially begun the reading. If I find myself thinking about the readee before or after the reading, then I know there is an energy exchange going on that could become messy very quickly. It is for this reason that I generally do not ask the readee what their questions are before I officially am ready to start the reading, and once the reading is over, I cease to discuss their issues. Otherwise the reading could continue on a telepathic level for days, years, or even an entire lifetime!

It's important to understand that if a woman approaches you on a Saturday and schedules a reading for the following Tuesday, you could potentially end up reading her for the next seventy-two hours if you aren't careful. Your aura could become merged with hers and then you will begin to feel and live all of her pain, problems, anxieties, etc., without even being aware that this is happening. The way to avoid this is first to make the commitment to yourself that you will not permit an energetic connection to form until you consciously will this connection to form, and then to establish a routine that lets your body and spirit know when the reading is beginning and when it is ending. Using your psychic tools on a regular basis will also help you with this.

Don't Allow Anyone in the Room Except the Reaclee

Invariably, a client will arrive for a reading and they or their companion, whether it be their husband, mother, or friend, will ask if it's all right if the companion stays in the room. Ninety-nine percent of the time I say no, unless the readee is a child (see chapter 19). There are a few reasons for this. First of all, the energy of the readee's companion could easily interfere with the reading and you may inadvertently start reading that person without being aware of this. Furthermore, clairvoyant readings tend to be very personal, and you don't want to be inhibited in any way from sharing information of a personal nature.
